Even though longer calling cards may be needed to accommodate it, with the “Certified Operational Technology Cybersecurity Professional (TÜV)” title to their name, managers will in future be able to prove that they have successfully passed a three-part test. TÜV Rheinland assesses managers on the basis of their training and professional career, as well as their technical skills and personality. TÜV’s reasoning behind launching the new program is based on a need for cybersecurity knowledge beyond what is traditionally required in order to deal with the complex challenges of the industrial world. The new program helps identify and improve expertise within the team. The certification costs €350 and has to be renewed every three years.
Other providers are offering similar certification programs. SGS-TÜV Saar , for instance, offers “Certified Cybersecurity Professional” personal qualification programs in the automotive and industry segments, for which a certificate is awarded when the candidate successfully passes the relevant test.
