Flender GmbH from Bocholt is one of the leading manufacturers of mechanical and electrical drive systems and says it has stood for drive components of the highest performance, innovation, quality and reliability for more than 120 years. In the run-up to HANNOVER MESSE 2023, Flender has now announced that the company has been awarded the Gold Medal by EcoVadis, probably the world's most renowned provider of sustainability ratings. The gold award for Flender stands out in that the company participated in the EcoVadis rating for the first time after regaining its independence. With this first application, Flender immediately made it into the top five percent of the most sustainable companies in the industry worldwide, according to EcoVadis.
Original quote from a proud CEO
"This is great. Corporate social responsibility is in our THEN," says a delighted Flender Managing Director and Group CEO Andreas Evertz. "The fact that we now also have official proof of this from a trustworthy, external company like EcoVadis with this award feels incredibly good and makes us proud. For our customers and stakeholders, it is the sign that they have the right partner at their side with Flender. We have many projects and initiatives underway and it is our goal to raise our rating even higher in the future. This first award is a great motivation to continue our efforts for a sustainable future. After all, the ultimate goal is to ensure that the world remains a place worth living in," Evertz continues.
Exemplary in many areas
Among other things, it was taken into account that Flender GmbH, with its drive systems for wind turbines, provides a central building block for the energy turnaround towards more renewable energies. But also the successes in the sustainable design of supply chains and supplier relationships and the initiatives in the area of labour and human rights contributed to the remarkable EcoVadis rating. Comprehensive information on Flender's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities can be found in a separate sustainability report on the company's website.
What exactly does EcoVadis do?
EcoVadis is considered the global standard for sustainability ratings in the corporate environment. The EcoVadis rating assesses 21 sustainability criteria on four core topics: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. More than 85,000 companies worldwide have been rated by EcoVadis to date. EcoVadis corporate sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the ISO 26000 standard. The assessments provide a fact-based performance analysis and an action plan for continuous improvement.
