In order to expand its own expertise in the field of robotics, electronics and connection technology specialist Weidmüller, based in Detmold, Germany, will collaborate with Chinese robot manufacturers in the future.15 Jul 2018 Kai Tubbesing
Weidmüller’s product portfolio already includes different solutions for communication with robots and their power supply using data and signals. After acquiring shares in the Chinese Robotation Academy Foshan (RAF) as a founding partner at the end of 2017, the company is now intensifying its efforts in the robotics market there.
Through an additional stake in the China Robot Industry Alliance (CRIA) , Weidmüller is not only hoping to gain greater exposure for its products in the Asian country. One of the main reasons for the increased commitment is the exchange of experience with the players in the growth market of China. In joining the CRIA network, Weidmüller sees an opportunity to shape the development of its own connectivity solutions for a robot-driven Industry 4.0 in direct dialog with experts, customers, researchers, and developers. Due to China’s high demand for modern robotics, such collaborations are by no means unusual. The Chinese-led Augsburg robot manufacturer KUKA recently announced its cooperation with the Chinese Midea Group .
