When AI takes the camera in hand
With the BT-A600 series, KEYENCE aims to optimise reading performance in the MDE sector. The combination of a full-range camera and AI filter is designed to enable fast and precise capture of simple and challenging codes, as well as plain text, over a long range.

According to the manufacturer KEYENCE, the new BT-A600 series mobile computer takes reading performance to a new level. Equipped with a full-range camera with integrated AI filter, it is said to be able to precisely capture even difficult-to-read codes and characters over an enormous range of 2.5 centimetres to ten metres. In addition, it offers improved functionality thanks to an intuitive keyboard, a generous 4.3-inch touch display and flexible expansion options with a pistol grip and ring trigger. The rugged design of the BT-A600 is also claimed to effectively minimise common causes of error such as water, dust and drop damage, making the device suitable for particularly demanding working environments.
For long ranges and hard-to-read codes
With the BT-A600, KEYENCE has developed a full-range camera that can capture codes at the optimum focal point from close range to long range. This makes it possible to reliably detect and evaluate codes over the entire range. The powerful 8 CPU cores can process the images captured by the full-range camera in parallel. An integrated AI core helps to quickly and reliably capture even hard-to-read codes by accessing a database of more than 100,000 images to quickly identify even damaged codes.
High-precision character recognition
In numerous internal processes in which characters are used instead of codes, it is necessary to carry out visual inspections, log data and then transfer it manually to a PC. This procedure is not only very time-consuming, but also prone to error. With the OCR function of the BT-A600 series, any text can now be scanned and transferred at the push of a button, significantly increasing work efficiency. KEYENCE's OCR technology not only reliably recognises different characters regardless of the font (BT-OCR1) – thanks to an additional innovative AI-OCR algorithm (BT-OCR2), based on the features and patterns of difficult-to-read characters, the BT-A600 series can also achieve unprecedented reading performance for challenging and directly marked characters, according to KEYENCE.
Optimised design for maximum user-friendliness
An intuitive keypad and large touch display, as well as flexible expansion options, are designed to ensure user-friendly operation and improve overall functionality. Four structural protective devices also offer, according to the manufacturer, a high level of resistance to falls from 3.1 metres and repeated impacts from 30 centimetres. The display is made of hardened glass (Dragontrail) and is therefore particularly impact and scratch resistant, while the housing itself is highly resistant to dust and water thanks to its IP67 protection rating.
