Every two years, the Wind trade fair supplements HANNOVER MESSE. The event is marked by strong synergy effects to the world’s largest trade fair for motion, drive and automation (MDA) as well as industrial automation and industrial supply.
"In the business environment of HANNOVER MESSE we provide the right platform for wind energy to discuss the challenges facing renewable energy sources at an international level. Here both technological advances as well as system integration play a prominent role," says Marc Siemering, Senior Vice-President responsible for HANNOVER MESSE.
Exhibitors at Wind 2015 include leading energy system constructors such as Enercon, Nordex and Siemens along with transmission manufacturers such as ZF Friedrichshafen and Schaeffler.
Ideal supporters are the German Wind Energy Association (BWE) and the Power Systems Section of the Association of German Machine and Plant Engineering (VDMA).
Medium and long-term forecasts also appear to be intact. "Wind power will find its way into new emerging markets, whereby, in addition to the onshore sector, the offshore sector is well on its way - in Europe for now and later in China," says Rehm. In his estimation, wind power will grow by over 60 GW per year through new installations until 2020.
The vast global potential of wind energy can also be seen in India, the 2015 Partner Country of HANNOVER MESSE. Wind power capacity is forecast to increase there to 100 GW by 2022. India is not only placing emphasis on onshore installations but offshore installations as well. In the future, many more offshore installations will be constructed along India’s 7,500 kilometer coastline.
"For the wind industry HANNOVER MESSE, due to its politico-economic significance, is the right platform to demonstrate its strength and importance to the transition to renewable energies," explains Hermann Albers, President of the BWE. To secure the top-ranking position of Danish, German and Spanish manufacturers, Europe must "develop a clear strategy to guarantee investment in innovation and new markets in the future as well," says Albers.
