Automated AI-based data evaluation, networked production processes and the use of robotics are state of the art in Industry 4.0. However, when it comes to the production of large-scale products, the latest methods are rarely employed according to IPH Hannover . That is why the institute has organized an XXL-product working group under the name “Industry 4.0 – Intelligent Manufacture of XXL Products”, where one of the topics discussed will be the retrofitting of existing production systems with sensors and other retrofit solutions. It could provide an opportunity for SMEs in particular to begin networked production .
The event will be held on 28 May 2019 at the headquarters of the robot manufacturers Kuka in Augsburg, Germany. Among other highlights, it will feature expert presentations on smart data evaluation for large-scale production and showcase new approaches for the aerospace industry. The use of industrial robots as the manufacturing basis for large plastic components will also be addressed.
