To give companies a structured look at the potential of available AI technologies, digital association Bitkom is launching a Periodic Table of AI website. Using a modular system with a similar structure to the chemical periodic table, it provides information about 28 AI technologies for businesses – ranging from voice recognition to relationship learning. Each technology is listed with an explanation of what it does, how it is used and who offers it. In this way, the digital association hopes to provide smaller firms in particular with essential expertise and enable them to develop their own implementation strategies for AI projects as quickly as possible.
The automotive sector’s hesitation to introduce AI is not confined to that branch of industry. Bitkom has identified the main reason as being uncertainty about the possible applications and concrete benefits, and aims to remedy this with the periodic table of AI. This is because, as Bitkom President Achim Berg explains, “data analysis and artificial intelligence are two key technologies that, going forward, will determine not only the success of individual companies but the future of entire economies”.
