Siemens and the US design software provider Bentley Systems recently unveiled the PlantSight cloud service . It enables processing plant operators to synchronize real data from a running plant with the engineering data. The service is particularly suitable for existing systems, as it can significantly reduce the time and effort needed to summarize and complete the information about plant components, while keeping documentation constantly up to date.

PlantSight represents the plant as a digital model. It is created from overlapping photographs and, if necessary, additional laser scans generated by drones or photos taken on the ground. To synchronize the data, the teams from Bentley and Siemens created a shared environment for the PlantSight Connected Data Environment (CDE). It is also possible to retrieve the information in PlantSight in a mixed reality system and integrate it into machine-learning models.

The two partners also plan to make the services of the IoT operating system MindSphere from Siemens available in PlantSight. The service offer will apparently also be extended to digital twins for performance and product components.
