Hannover, Germany. Economic viability, technical innovation and entrepreneurship as well as contribution to climate protection are the main evaluation criteria for the H2Eco Award, which will be presented for the first time at HANNOVER MESSE 2022. An independent jury of hydrogen experts from politics, business, research and society will select the winner.

Companies that use industrial hydrogen production in an exemplary manner are eligible to apply. Such innovative projects will boost the green-hydrogen market economy and inspire industry. Participation is free of charge.

Robert Habeck, Germany's minister for economic affairs and climate action, is patron of the 5,000-Euro prize. The award ceremony is on 31 May 2022 at HANNOVER MESSE’s Energy 4.0 stage.

"With this new award, we pay tribute to the hydrogen economy. For many years, HANNOVER MESSE has provided the largest European platform for the hydrogen and fuel cell industry. At the Hydrogen+Fuel Cells group exhibit, more than 200 companies show how using hydrogen from renewable energies enables a sustainable energy supply," said Dr. Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG.

"German industry faces one of the greatest transformation processes. Green hydrogen is essential in the energy sector and in industrial applications in order to achieve the climate goals in a sustainable, affordable and secure way. With the H2Eco Award, the DWV annually honors a company that has made a significant contribution to boosting the future hydrogen market economy," added Werner Diwald, CEO of the DWV.
