Hannover, Germany. For the fifth year running, Deutsche Messe is offering the "Engineer Powerwoman" award – a distinction honoring women who are active in the STEM professions in recognition of their special commitment, ideas or achievements that have helped influence the innovativeness of their companies or helped drive business. The award is open to all companies and institutions from Germany and abroad, with only one nomination accepted per enterprise.

The awards ceremony will take place on 28 April within the framework of the WoMenPower conference, which Deutsche Messe has been organizing at HANNOVER MESSE for over ten years. In keeping with tradition, the ceremony takes place on Friday during the show. The award will be presented by Andrea Nahles, German Minister of Labor and Social Affairs; the deadline for registering is 14 March.

The award carries a prize purse of 5,000 euros. Registration is free of charge. The Engineer Powerwoman 2017 award is adjudicated by an independent jury consisting of members of the conference advisory committee. Registration information is available for downloading at www.womenpower-kongress.de .

Engineer Powerwoman 2016

Herna Munoz-Galeano, Managing Director of the HMG System Engineering company, was the Engineer Powerwoman in 2016. Munoz-Galeano has university degrees in engineering and computer science, with over 25 years of experience in the specification, development, system integration and testing of IT systems in the field of medical technology. HMG works primarily on complex projects involving personalized medicine, with the main focus on industrial research. Munoz-Galeano takes the issue of diversity in the workplace very seriously, with a team consisting of 17 women and 18 men from eight different nations, combining a total of 13 different disciplines. In the same sense, HMG supports individual further training and family-friendly working hours.

The main sponsors of the competition are Audi, Continental and Harting as well as Deloitte, Robert Bosch, WAGO Kontakttechnik and the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).
