Hannover. Canada and Germany have long enjoyed strong partnerships focused on energy and sustainability. The Canada-Germany Hydrogen Alliance, for example, supports supply chain growth essential to global decarbonization. The German-Canadian Renewable Dialogue will explore the potential for even more energy cooperation between Germany and Canada, the official partner country of HANNOVER MESSE 2025.

What: German-Canadian Renewable Dialogue
When: 31 March 2025, 2:30–5:00 p.m.
Where: Hannover Exhibition Center, Hall 19, Maple Leaf Room

Affordable clean energy faces high costs, infrastructure gaps and policy barriers. However, falling prices, innovation and climate goals drive investment that creates jobs, expands energy access and supports a sustainable future. The first panel discussion, “Ensuring Affordable Clean Energy”, explores the technologies, infrastructure, policies, and partnerships that secure reliable and resilient energy for industry. Panelists include Christoph Benze, Head of Department for Energy and Climate Protection at the Lower Saxony Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection; Kalie Hatt-Kilburn, Vice President, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency; Lars Meisenbach, Vice President Product, Wöhner GmbH & Co.KG; and Robert Winsloe, Executive Vice President Origination, Eavor Technologies Inc.

The second panel discussion, “Market Ramp-Up: New Business Hydrogen Opportunities for Canada and Germany through Transatlantic Partnerships”, looks at Canada as a secure supplier of hydrogen to Europe as well as how transatlantic partnerships can accelerate market ramp-up of renewable hydrogen. Canada’s Atlantic Provinces, for example, present exceptional investment opportunities. Because of their ideal wind speeds, plentiful freshwater resources, and ice-free deep-water harbors along key international shipping routes, they are prime locations for producing hydrogen and its derivatives for export to Europe. Panelists are Erin O’Brien, Assistant Deputy Minister of the Fuels Sector, NRCan; Ursula Borak, Deputy Director General, German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action; Jörn Brunotte, Lead Originator Supply & Origination Projects East, Uniper Energy; Kerstin Jorna, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SME, EU Commission; Matthew Tinari, CFO and CSO, EverWind Fuels.

The German-Canadian Renewable Dialogue is organized by Deutsche Messe AG and the German state of Lower Saxony in collaboration with the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The event is open to all HANNOVER MESSE participants, but advance registration is required.
