Innovative components and systems for the photovoltaic and solar thermal utilization of solar energy are developed at the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH). The ISFH is a research institute of the state of Lower Saxony with the legal status of a non-profit-making organization. It is an affiliated institute of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover
The ISFH is made up of the Photovoltaics and Solar Systems Technology departments as well as an independent testing center, the ISFH Calibration & Test Center (CalTeC).
The director of the ISFH is Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Rolf Brendel, who is also a university professor in the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the Leibniz Universität Hannover.
Presently the ISFH has 170 employees. The majority of the staff consist of scientific and technical personnel and Ph.D. students employed on a temporary basis to undertake research projects.
