The IKK is one of the newest institutes in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH). The innovative team headed by Prof. Dr Hans-Josef Endres is one of eight institutes under the roof of the Hannover Centre for Production Technology. One focus is on recycling and resource efficiency in order to promote a scientifically sensible, environmentally friendly, sustainable and high-quality circular economy. To this end, the entire life cycle of bio-based and conventional plastics is considered, from material development and processing through to recycling and the sustainability assessment of the processes and materials developed. In addition, the IKK trains engineering students in the fundamentals of plastics technology or sustainability assessment and supervises student research projects and dissertations as well as doctoral theses in this context.
