EC-Engineer is a powerful software tool for configuring and diagnosing EtherCAT® networks. The user can perform all necessary tasks quickly and conveniently with just one tool. The modern, clear and intuitive user interface makes a decisive contribution to this, with pop-up dialogs being deliberately avoided as far as possible.
EC-Engineer can be used to create the configuration "offline" in the office or "online" at the system with direct access to the real network. It does not matter whether the EtherCAT SubDevices are connected to the local Windows PC or to the controller. In both cases, the SubDevices and the topology can be detected conveniently by means of a "bus scan". If the SubDevices are connected to the Windows PC, the integrated Windows EtherCAT MainDevice can start up and diagnose the bus. If the SubDevices are connected to the controller, the EC-Master running there takes over communication on the bus and provides the EC-Engineer with all the necessary services and data.
In addition to EC-Engineer for Windows, acontis also offers a universal version, EC-Engineer Web, which can be used independently of the operating system thanks to the use of the latest web technologies and therefore also enables EtherCAT networks to be configured or monitored on tablets, MacOS or Linux systems.
