Hy-Lok's CNG series 2-way ball valves with EPDM and CGH2 series are designed for stationary and mobile hydrogen applications and offer a reliable solution at high pressures and a wide temperature range. Manufactured from 316/316L stainless steel, the products comply with EC-79 certification for hydrogen applications and feature a spring-loaded packing design that minimizes external leakage.
The ball valves undergo extensive testing in accordance with (EC) No. 79/2009 and (EU) No. 406/2010, including salt spray, durability, hydraulic pressure and leakage tests with compressed hydrogen. In addition, the non-metal materials were tested for hydrogen compatibility and resistance to oxygen and ozone ageing. The CGH2 series ball valves are fitted with PCTFE ball seats, while the CNG series uses PEEK seats. EPDM, PCTFE, PTFE or PEEK are used for the other seals.
The ball valves are designed for a maximum working pressure of up to 350 bar (5,076 psig) and offer a temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. The orifice varies depending on the end connection size, with up to 6.4 mm (CGH2 series) or 9.2 mm (CNG series with EPDM). Panel mounting is also possible. Full material traceability is guaranteed by a heat tracing code (HTC) on the body.
The CNG and CGH2 series ball valves offer a practical solution for various industrial hydrogen applications that meet high requirements for leak tightness and safety.
