Development of special purpose machines
The development cycles for products in a wide range of industries, such as optics, electronics and the hydrogen sector, are becoming ever shorter. Companies are faced with the challenge of designing new products and technologies at an early stage and evaluating them with prototypes. With our many years of experience in mechanical and plant engineering for various process technologies, we have the know-how to realize customer-specific special machines as prototypes. This enables us to offer research-based companies and research institutions the opportunity to test and evaluate new products and technologies in the pre-development phase before complex and cost-intensive innovations are transferred to industrial series production.
"Scalab" modular machine architecture
With the "Scalab" production concept, we have poured our research and development expertise into a modular machine architecture that enables companies to quickly evaluate new production solutions and adapt them as required without the need for costly retooling. Based on the plug-and-produce principle, handling the "Scalab" control system is simple and efficient. It enables various functional modules to be exchanged quickly and flexibly.
Hydrogen components from the roll
We have already implemented a pilot plant for the continuous production of hydrogen components at the Fraunhofer IPT, and another one is currently under construction. On this system, forming, cutting and welding processes run continuously via a roller system. Other possible applications for the roll-to-roll (R2R) system include coating processes for the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) as well as positioning and placement processes.
