Highly efficient electric motors are a crucial basis for profitable and sustainable plant operation, as they account for nearly 70% of the power consumption of an average industrial plant. Therefore, in addition to its comprehensive range of SIMOTICS asynchronous motors in IE4 (Super Premium Efficiency), which covers a complete power spectrum from 2.2 to 1000 kW, Siemens now offers complementary motor solutions in IE5 (Ultra Premium Efficiency). These IE5 motor solutions are designed in either synchronous reluctance or permanent magnet technology, exactly matching the respective application. The interplay of SIMOTICS motors in IE4 or IE5 with SINAMICS converters for variable speed operation, as well as an overall system approach based on a higher-level system approach with tailor made software-, service- and digitalization solutions, allows energy savings of 60% on average to be achieved.
