Intelligent gripper recognizes where it is supposed to grip
Smart handling systems can directly increase the efficiency of entire assembly lines. At the same time, human-robot collaboration solutions are essential components of the networked Industry 4.0.

Schunk's award-winning intelligent gripper module Co-act JL1 has been awarded as a pioneering element in innovative human-robot collaboration in the 100 places for Industry 4.0 in Baden-Württemberg contest. A "sensory aura" that uses capacitive and tactile sensor technology and optical monitoring via a camera to monitor the entire environment of the system ensures safety in this collaborative actuator and prevents people and machines from getting in each other’s way.
The Cobot gripper automatically detects the workpiece and reliably differentiates it from the human hand. A safe force limiter ensures that the Co-act JL1 selects the correct gripping force, does not lose any workpieces and, in the event of unplanned contact with people, does not cause injuries. Even with high gripping forces, the gripper must be able to interrupt the process in an emergency and still hold the gripped part reliably.
Allianz Industrie 4.0 Baden-Württemberg will also be represented at the Hanover Fair in 2018 at a joint booth in the Digital Factory area, in Hall 6, booth C18 .
