KraussMaffei creates a business unit for smart machines
In order to cope with the digital change in mechanical engineering, the KraussMaffei Group is adapting its corporate structure to the current development. Digitization solutions for machines get their own business unit.01 Aug. 2018 Kai Tubbesing
The Smart Machines unit , which is headed up by Dr. Stefan Kruppa, is organizationally assigned to the newly created Digital Service Solutions division . It is responsible for all machine digitization solutions across segments and brands. KraussMaffei Group responded to the increasing importance of smart, networked solutions by creating a separate area of responsibility for the Industry 4.0 portfolio.
As a global mechanical engineering company specializing in plastics processing, the company focuses primarily on injection molding, reaction, and extrusion technology. KraussMaffei plans to adapt its range of products even more consistently to the needs of the modern manufacturing industry. New, customized approaches for Industry 4.0 will be created in the individual development departments for machine technology, connected solutions, and data analytics in the future.
The creation of new divisions to bundle the company’s digitization skills has become an established modernization strategy. This is also shown by the example of Körber AG, which maintains a separate business branch, Körber Digital , which handles the integration of modern technologies into its own production lines.
