The central software system Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) optimizes workflow – from purchasing to production and distribution. This why the software is "more in demand than ever“ as the digital industry association Bitkom asserts. According to the association's most recent ERP barometer, nine out of ten ERP providers are anticipating increased sales in 2016. A further ten percent are predicting that their income will remain steady.

In the course of digitalization SMEs are also increasing their investment in modern IT systems. According to Bitkom there "continues to be a huge demand for modernization." Added to this is the fact that ERP is currently at the top of the list in the next investment cycle in many companies. On average, ERP users change or make fundamental adjustments to their systems every four to five years.

"ERP software can significantly simplify controlling and planning processes. In addition large cross-sector trends such as cloud computing, mobility and Industry 4.0 are energizing the ERP sector," says Bitkom expert Frank Termer. According to providers surveyed for the ERP barometer, the top three trends in 2016 are cloud computing (40 percent), mobile ERP (39 percent) and Industry 4.0 (39 percent).
