In the early days of digitalization, hardware was aimed almost entirely at professional users with very specialized needs. But as personal computers started to catch on, the path of progress split into two directions, which saw professional equipment and SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) devices develop along different tracks without significant overlaps. Recently, equipment for personal use has become hardly distinguishable from professional hardware, thus spawning the trend toward BYOD (bring your own device). In terms of performance alone, there is very little – or in some cases nothing – to stop us from using the same hardware at work as at leisure and home. But certain restrictions do remain. If the workplace is not an office but rather outdoors or a rough industrial environment, then standard hardware can very quickly be stretched to its limits. Handheld GmbH spotted this stumbling block early on and started developing extremely robust mobile devices for use in technology-hostile conditions. The Swedish company’s German branch is now exhibiting the upgraded version of its robust ALGIZ RT7 tablet at HANNOVER MESSE 2017.

From the start, the unusually light and handy Algiz RT7 equipped mobile workers with a wide range of functions and gave them an extraordinary leg-up in value. Not only that, but the Algiz RT7 is remarkably robust and fulfills the U.S. military’s stringent MIL-STD-810G standards in protection against impact, vibrations and extreme temperatures. Its IP65 rating means the tablet is waterproof and completely resistant to sand and dust. The new version of the Algiz RT7 has been upgraded to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), which makes it possible to expand the internal memory via micro SD, for example. Together with the similarly upgraded RAM (2 GB), this significantly speeds up memory-intensive processes. The switch to Android 6.0 also offers Algiz RT7 users a number of new security features.
